**Thursday, September 8th, 2016 (I will be out for the morning classes)**

- Bellwork –Journal - Birthday Money : Colton received some money for his birthday on friday. That night, he took his friend out to dinner. He spent half of his check for dinner. Then he tipped the waiter $6.00. The next evening he went to dinner alone, spent half of the money he had left, and tipped the wiater $2.00. The next night he went to dinner again, spent half of the money he had left, and tipped the waiter $1.00. At this time he had $6.00 left. How much money did he originally have? Describe what you did to solve the problem. How did you get started? Which problem solving strategies did you use? Write your solution and explanation in complete sentences.
- Check homework – problem solving
- 5 minute Times test – time them (I use my phone) – then have the students trade and grade. After they have graded and seen their score – collect them and have Bre put the papers into their class tray.
- Stations – there are 7 stations (approximately 8-9 minutes per station – timed again)
- Adding/subtracting decimal face (they need something to color with)
- Read the rounding decimals notes in packet in their small group and highlight important info (high lighters provided if needed)
- Tangler #14 (answer key provided)
- Exercise #3 in packet
- Last page of packet (rounding)
- Place Value Worksheet
- Problem solving worksheet

- 5 min check – have the students turn them in to the correct bin when complete
- Pass out homework – rounding – estimating – reasonable answer worksheet
**Period ¾ - Accelerated Mathematics**- Pass out and have students glue the journal prompt in their 5 subject notebook.
- Go over answers to the packet (provided)
- 5 minutes times test (use your timer)
- Hand out the quizzes – students are to put this in the appropriate bin (2nd one down)
- Logic Problem (writer) Students are to work on this individually until everyone is finished – then they may get with a partner and finish.

**Friday September 9th, 2016**

- Bell Work - Review Place Value and Rounding/Estimating
- periods 1/2 and 8/9 take quiz over Place Value and Rounding/Estimating
- Notes over divisibility
- Group Work: Play the “32” Calculator Game
- Work on the Divisibility Worksheet – homework if not completed
